3D models of the F-16

Always wondered why the F-16 has a tailhook, or how big a bigmouth F-16's mouth really is ? Find it out here !

3D models of the F-16

Unread post by Tuborg »

Hi,

I am desperatly looking for a 3D model of an F 16 ( best for Maya, but other formats like .obj or .3ds will do) I am not a modeler but need to texture an F16 as real as possible. Are their people who want to share their 3D model or know where to find good free 3D models of an F16.

Most sites charge 100$ - 300$ for a model, I cant spend this. the only thing i can offer is the textured 3D model i make and a picture of the real aircraft if it is ever painted.

Thank you

As a former 3D modeler I can tell you these models are labor intensive to create. The prices you quote are not out of line.

You might try one of the add-on models for Microsoft's Flight Sim (Lago?) and see if you could export their geometry.

I would love to have one that can be disassembled to reveal components. Would make a kick a$$ training aid here at the school house!

HMMMM you may try looking in the falcon 4 "terrdata" folder. Make a post on www.frugalsworld.com and see if something comes of it. Grab

Hi All, I'm mechanical engineering student and I'm last class student. I have a graduate projection. It's modelling of wing structure of F-16. I have to found dimension of wing stucture (rib, skin, and spar). If I found this information, I can make my graduate projection. I'm use this information at CATIA and ANSYS programmes. Please help me. Do you have any information of wing of F-16? If there are any information, pls send me a message. It' very important for me.

Thank you for all

One or two years ago, I did a belgian F-16AM as training when I was trying Wings 3D. The model isn't perfect (had problem with landing gear details) and not very accurate (lack of some details like smaller antennas, ECM antennas, etc.), and is only an empty mesh (no internal, no cockpit), but general shape and proportions are correct (because based on blueprints). Texture isn't really good because I had some problems, so level of detail is poor on the forward fuselage... Number of polys is low because I dit it in few hours just to explore possibilities of Wings... Ext fuel tanks are inaccurate, but were done in two minutes just to complete the model...

If it should be useful for you, I can email you the file (il .wings or .3ds formats) if you send me an email address...

Go to http://www.flightgear.org/Downloads/aircraft/ Scroll down and download the F-16. Unzip and the 3D model will be in the models folder. Good Luck! I would also suggest that if your texture comes out really good you could post it on Flightgear and then maybe you could work on some of the other aircraft.

Is it possible to import such 3dmodels to FalconAF?
